“Queer liberation IS the agenda!”

The Issue:

Texas and Florida have recently been extremely violent, and very intentional in said violence, toward their Queer constituents, both adults and children. Those two States are not alone in this. We see these efforts popping up in States across our country. These very sinister actions by State legislatures place their Queer constituents in a position to experience significant domestic threat of physical violence, emotional violence, and economic violence. This violence is being inflicted by the State and local governments that continue to pass these incredibly harmful pieces of legislation.

Precedent:

The 14th Amendment dictates that all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. It goes on to prohibit states from making or enforcing any law that would abridge the privileges of the citizens of the United States. Section 1 concludes by stipulating that states may not deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. This amendment has been used to set precedent in various Supreme Court cases as indicated in the linked document, yet the Congress retains the responsibility to codify these case precedents into law. Constitutional Authority:

Article IV, Sec. 4 [Article IV] of the United States Constitution dictates that The United States must protect each state from invasion, and domestic violence:

“The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the legislatures, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence”

benefit to California:

The 14th amendment has been used to set precedent in various Supreme Court cases as indicated in the linked document. Despite the established case precedent, Congress retains the responsibility to codify these case precedents into law. Passage of The Equality Act would provide federal protections for approximately 1.8 million LGBTQ+ Californians. I will also work to expand the U.S. Foreign Policy platform to include advocacy of LGBTQ+ rights and protections around the globe.
